Just in case

I’m actually going to reblog a thing just because this is really important.

As someone who has epilepsy and used to have several grand mal seizures a day, I’d also like to add that “offer help” can range anywhere from keeping the person calm to explaining to them where they are and what they were doing to even just telling them they should sit and rest for a while longer (lack or coordination is common, and it can be hard to walk straight or see clearly).

It’s okay for them to take up to a half hour to fully regain their bearings and sort out what they were doing prior to the seizure. Just answer any questions calmly and be there for support.

If they come around and you start to panic or shake them or ask them what the heck is wrong with them they are going to freak out and panic too.

I cannot stress it enough that this is bad.

If someone has a seizure and they come out of it, please. please stay calm.
They are likely disoriented and confused, even if it’s only for a minute or two, and you don’t want them panicking on top of that because they can have another seizure as a result.

IMPORTANT

IMPORTANT because last year a kid in my class had a seizure, none of us even knew he was at risk for them either so just cause you don’t think you know anyone doesn’t mean you don’t

stay safe

I have to stress how important it is to time a seizure. If it lasts more than a few minutes, call an ambulance.

DO NOT CALL THE POLICE. I’m dead fucking serious. I had a grand mal in public once and the POLICE were called and imagine coming out of the seizure, feeling like you got smacked in the head with a sack full of bricks, confused, dazed, in desperate need of some sugar to boost low blood pressure and some DIPSHIT has called the police and I was being threatened with being ‘drunk and disorderly’. It took a phone call to my doctors office to get them to back off. The police cannot properly deal with sick people

Offer help can be:

  • assuring person where they are/what time it is
  • getting them something to drink if they can; seizure burns so much energy and does cause a blood pressure drop
  • getting them safely to transport or a carer
  • getting them some dignity like a blanket/towel [loosing control of your bladder and bowels is fucking horrifying]
  • ensuring they have a way to get home. Someone who has just had a seizure should NEVER DRIVE straight after
  • calling emergency services if you notice any of these symptoms because they may have stroked out.

Why you shouldn’t put anything in someone’s mouth: they will choke. Yes, they may bite their tongue but I can assure you it’s less traumatic than cracking your jaw on someone’s greasy wallet or choking on a spoon.

DO NOT HOLD ANYONE DOWN. Example: someone pinned my right shoulder mid-seizure a few years back and how I have a permanently displaced and clicking shoulder. Let the person flail around, those muscles are out of control and restraining them does cause more damage to the patient and you.

Thank you for clearing up why the is stopping! I was actually a little scared it was ending for good… I had been seeing different things going around about the anime either taking a break or ending for good, so it’s encouraging to know they’re just taking a break like last time!

Glad I could help, and yeah I was scared too but when reading the article on anime news network it sounded more like a break than a cancellation. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!

Fairy Tail Anime Cancelled?

littlestme-ff:

So I watched a vid on YouTube and according to the guy, the anime is being cancelled on episode 102/277. Maybe down to ratings or the studio who were in charge of the Tartaros arc, presumably A1 studios could of been unhappy with how it looked, or A1 are busy with other projects. But apparently they might be continuing the story in another way… “This years 17th issue of Kodanshas weekly shōnen magazine is revealing on March 23rd that the Fairy Tail television anime series has a new project in the works and the announcement did not give any more information on the project, however the current anime season will air it’s last episode on March 26th after premiering in April 2014” So as far as I’m aware we are still receiving the OVAs throughout this year…. Can anyone shed light on this? Or is it just a cruel hoax? 😦

Series isn’t over. They have more Ovas coming out and the current season will be ending. They want mashima to have more time to write more chapters so they don’t have a repeat of last time. So the ovas are gonna keep us all busy until they can release the rest of the avatar arc

  • write that sentence, that dialogue, that scene that terrifies you
  • don’t delete shit, just move it to another document
  • have a “bits and pieces” document for all the odds and ends you can’t fit anywhere else
  • think of the color of a person’s eyes, imagine something reflected in them, now write that scene
  • fiction doesn’t have to be 100% accurate, don’t research yourself to boredom
  • i’m being serious there’s a thing called suspension of disbelief and it’s magical (yes that’s me making a joke)
  • write something that makes you cry
  • write something that makes you laugh
  • write something you can’t explain to other people
  • write something you won’t remember until you read it the next day
  • don’t read about the publishing industry until you really, really need to. all it will do is make you unbelievably tired
  • listen to music from open world RPG video games, you’re welcome
  • always take a small journal or some paper and a pen with you
  • write by hand in a journal every once in a while
  • put the ending of your story in the beginning and see what happens
  • listen to input from other people. yes you’re the writer, but they’re the reader and they want to help you make something spectacular
  • said is not dead dude like wtf
  • the thesaurus is shiny and lovely and a great resource but don’t let words get in the way of your story telling, you don’t need to write prose as poetry for it to be beautiful
  • just finish the draft first, worry about perfection after
  • yes, you do have talent
  • yes, you can do this. you already are
