To my fellow Fanfiction writers

I looked into the situation on the Spamdex Fanfiction websites just now and I’m literally crying tears of joy at this situation. As you know, a majority went on strike this week until the situation was calmed down. And I looked myself up on Google (bored lol) and I found two of the websites we were warned about. I have a ton of protective softwares on my computer and I clicked on one of the links. It said:” Check out these websites similar to buystock.” so I looked at another and it asked me if I wished to buy the domain.

With this news in hands, I can proudly and happily say that Google (and maybe fanfiction) answered our prayers. The websites are as dead as the dodo! We won the war and we can go back to posting our fanfictions next week!!!!!!!

PLEASE REBLOG TO SHARE WITH OUR FELLOW WRITERS THIS JOYUS NEWS!!!

You can now stop reporting ffn.net spam mirror sites to Google…

feliciacraft:

I’m talking about the following sites as previously reported on Tumblr:

They’re getting addressed! Yay! If you check search results, some of the sites have been removed completely from Google since Monday. Take thanfiction.org (do not visit site!) for example, how many of their stolen fanfiction.net stories now show up in Google? Zero:

While the sites themselves have not been taken down, and your content still lives on illegally on their site, they’re probably getting a lot less traffic from casual searches. Do a happy dance and congratulate yourself on making it happen LIKE A BOSS!!

Compare this to Bing, which returns 6080 results (so that you know the removal on Google is deliberate):

I’m not aware of a way of reporting spam sites to Bing to get them removed from search results. The best I can find from Microsoft Bing’s support site says only that, “Bing doesn’t control the content that websites publish or that appears in Bing search results. To make sure content is removed from search results, your best option is to contact the webmaster for the website that published the content and request that it be deleted or removed.”

(If you know of a way of reporting spam websites to Bing to have their content removed from Bing’s search results, please share.)

A very happy birthday to @snowmadien ! As you all know we’re working on Race for love together and we developed a good friendship. She raises and races ponies and horses and we once got into a conversation about animals with unique markings and she told me her pony Jet has markings that make it looks like he has eyebrows and I once asked her what type of pony he was and I drew him out for her birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day!!!!

FanFiction Thieves Update

quicknoisyninja:

Hello everyone, as I’m sure a lot of you are aware there are several sites who have mirrored Fanfiction.net and stolen every single story on the site. I understand that this must make a lot of you feel a little scared and apprehensive but let me give you guys some closure to put your minds at ease.

While I was spreading a word a really good friend of mine contacted me and told me that he already knew about these sites and that they’ve been mirroring Fanfiction since last year. What this means is that they’ve been doing this for a while but there hasn’t been one incident of Fanfiction being bothered by this.

In other words there is very little to no chance of this site hacking Fanfiction authors accounts and any personal information being stolen or monitored.

These sites were probably active even before my friend found out so it seems that all they are able to do is copy stories and what is written on author’s profile pages but they can’t do anything serious like hacking your accounts and taking your e-mail address. If they were able to do this then it would have happened, so all Fanfic writers please don’t feel afraid to continue writing and posting your stories like normal.

It is disgusting that people have stolen millions of people’s hard work but at least we know now that it’s not hurting anyone, hopefully fanfiction will address this issue but if they don’t I don’t think it means that we have to quit posting or be afraid to write. Even though they were stolen its not like it makes people enjoy your stories any less.

I hope this message reaches you all.

Dear fanfiction writers,

Please be aware that there are fake websites which have mirrored literally ALL FANFICS from Fanfiction.net. As far as I can tell, they are near-perfect mirrors, updating in real-time to FFN’s servers.

All of your stories, your profile, everything has been stolen and copied onto the following websites:

They are making profit off your stories with advertisements. This is called spamdexing. Please report them. Theft of this hefty magnitude, literally millions of stories, should not go unpunished.

Also, do not attempt to log in to any site that looks like Fanfiction.net but is not. In theory, they could steal your email and password!

HOW TO REPORT

  1. Go here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreportform?hl=en
  2. Put in the name of the website (one report each)
  3. Write in additional details: This is a spamdexing mirror site to https://www.fanfiction.net/ and has stolen my profiles and intellectual property.
  4. Click “I am not a robot” and then “Report webspam”
  5. Report more by clicking the link on: Go back to the webspam report form.

Writers and fanfic readers should report these websites that profit off our hard work. Stop plagiarism and art theft!

Guys, this is a serious problem. I’ve spent the last like 15 minutes trying to remove myself from these sites. This is legit. No story is safe, it’s a perfect copy of FF.net, even in real time and everything.

OMG! 😰😰!

@fairytailpeach @spikerr @ottottatertots @makeithayle @inksterlol @amaranth121 @ladykeyes @sketcher1994 @mangaguitar96 I know I didn’t get everyone and I apologize but tag the other’s!

Just had a big heart attack reading this. As if getting our fan art stolen wasn’t bad enough!!! @snowmadien @piranha-pk @frosty-yang @kagehime3 @kagehime3prompts @zombiegirl01 @neen-writes

Thank you babe. I’m at school so I can’t do it now, but omg, that’s really scary.

I already contacted fanfiction.net so I’m waiting for a reply

Calling all fanfic writers:

It recently came to my attention that a lot of third party spamming websites came into the limelight, stealing our fanfics right off of fanfiction.net (as in doing a livestream of the website and updates when fanfic updates). It got me scared and concerned over this not only for myself but my fellow writers.

I was planning to take a break next week anyway to catch up on stuff but with this situation coming to light, I want to ask all my fellow writers if they wish to take a break this week from writing fanfiction for our safety? It’s an optional decision and I feel it’s recommended considering the seriousness of it all. It gives us a chance to calm things down (I am planning to post on Valentine’s Day if things are resolved by then) but otherwise I’m refusing to post any new chapters this week because of the third party websites. (We should let the fan base know though)

Reblog if you wish to take a break this week to keep our stories safe!!!!!
