I’ve been reading Edens Zero and I think I have some theories about chronophages
As we all know, chronophages or Time Wyverns are mysterious creatures from outer space that like to chow down on a planet’s time like sucking the juice out of an orange. After reading chapter 23, I think I have a few theories about these monstrosities of the Sakura cosmos.
1. Each and every single one is different in their own sense; but also share the same goals:
The time wyverns, while all sharing the same goal (which is taking a planet’s time) seem to have different ways in taking a planet’s time and have different results in how they do it. What do I mean by that? Take the chronophage who took Norma’s time, throughout the whole Norma arc, were taken back to Norma 50 years prior and learn from Professor Weisz that the Chronophage is creating a time bubble where it’s x492 forever.
But when I read chapter 23, I noticed that the planets are disappearing at a rapid rate. This gave me a small theory. What if the way a Chronophage consumes a planet leaves to different results?
For example: the time Wyvern who took time from Norma seemed like a savory type eater. Someone who enjoys every single savory bite of a meal and wants to enjoy the flavor of what they’re eating. Because of that, the time on Norma goes away slowly before the time wyvern sucked it dry, belched and moved on with its life.
The time wyvern heading for Guilst seems to be the type to rush when they eat. They seem to just scarf down a planet’s time and seems to be impatient with its meal.
It seems like someone in a rush to eat everything and try to just end its unsatisfied hunger.
2. Chronophages grow in size the more planets they eat:
This could be a good theory and kind of a state the obvious type one; but something tells me the more planets a chronophage absorbs, the much bigger they grow. Take a look at the chronophage above, noticed that it looks a bit bigger? Now look at the Norma Time Wyvern
Notice a difference? I do also think it’s possible that there’s a differation in species such as breed and what not, (could also explain my theory for theory 1) but I think the sizes are a bit different from each other.
3.Chronophages only go after dying planets:
Now, what makes me think of this is because of what Professor Weisz said in the flashback of the Norma arc: he told Rebecca and Happy the planet was dying so there was no point for them to move in with him. And right before Shiki, Happy and Rebecca made it to Norma, Elsie admitted to her crew that the planet Norma was already dead.
Guilist was at one time a tourist planet until it became seeded with prostitutes, space frog pimps, crack dealers, car jackers, nun androids with bad attitudes-ahem moving on. But it seems to me the planet has been dying for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other ones this time wyvern just devoured are dying as well.
4. There’s going to be an arc surrounding time wyverns:
This is the second time we all ran into an issue with Chronophages. It seemed to me it was a rare but serious issue in space; but something is telling me we’re going to be seeing more of them soon and something tells me there’s something going on that will lead the gang to go after the Chronophages and see if there’s a way to defend the planets from being attacked by them in the future.
5. They’re made of Ether and devour Ether:
I remember Witch admitting that Eden’s zero was picking up a large abundance of Ether coming their way before she learned it was a Chronophage. I think the time wyverns are made from Ether and also devour not only the time of a planet but their Ether. Like one of my previous theories, I think they grow larger as time goes on, but it could be the Ether they devour the more power and growth in size they get.
Overall I do think they’re quite an issue and I think something is occurring behind the curtains that I think needs to be addressed as soon as possible. I hope they build like anti-Ether bullets to destroy these guys, or some form of defense.
Sounds drastic. Especially for content creators who may still need Tumblr for commissions while they find an alternative.
If you can swing it, here’s why:
I suspect that the December 17th deadline is so that Verizon/Yahoo can clean house and make Tumblr appealing to investors. This is a Q4/Q1 fire sale kind of thing. It makes a certain amount of business sense to make this change. Human-lead content curation (e.g. separating the CP from the legit) is expensive and time-consuming. I doubt they have the money for it. They already sold off Flickr. As a long-time Flickr pro user, I’m not pleased by the change and increase in pro account price, but I get it.
Investors are looking for a user base. User base is a prime attraction for investment or buy-out for a social media platform or application (I speak from experience as a co-founder of Rhinobird.tv).
Every account that is cancelled will be one less account in Tumblr’s user base for their pitch. I assume that there are millions of accounts with some percentage simply being abandoned accounts that haven’t been used in years. So cancelling one’s account on the way out the door won’t really matter unless the number of cancelled accounts reaches several hundred thousand at least.
If you decide to leave and cancel, then I also recommend sending a polite message to Tumblr staff, or tweet to the account about why you are leaving.
Finally, using Twitter to voice your concerns and thoughts about this issue will increase its visibility. They ain’t gonna like that. Media outlets that cater to tech entrepreneurs, and Silicon Valley types are going to be all over this.
I never ask for reblogs, but I will this one time.
I plan to stick it out, but I think a lot of other folks are talking about leaving.Â
IF you are going to leave, please seriously consider this.
I might consider this, but I ain’t gonna go without one Big Bang first.
I will be moving my tumblr to word press hopefully by the 17th. I am on Twitter as well but it’s more of a personal account than an actual work type account.
I am also on deviantart but I stopped posting there years ago and kept the account open so I could read some fan comic series’ I’m a fan of. Looks like that was a good move on my part since I do plan to reopen it and begin posting again.
Soup.io – well-known alternative to Tumblr. Reblogging, post types, themes, collab blogs, dashboard, artsy, great community already there. Soup can auto-import everything you’ve posted on Tumblr.
TypePad – Includes reblogging. Dashboard and post types similar to Tumblr.
Okay, folks. So. Tumblr’s jumped the shark in a big way, and I’m not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all “adult” content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.
Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.
(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but that’s another issue entirely.)
I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, it’s a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, it’s often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there.
One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution I’ve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I don’t anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any. Â
This tutorial I found worked really easily. http://quickguide (.) tumblr (.) com/post/39780378703/backing-up-your-tumblr-blog-to-wordpress
I put parenthesis around the .’s like we’re back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblr’s new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do.Â
To break it down, just in case:
Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start
You’ll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and you’re good to go.
On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.
Then you have to give your site a URL. If you’re lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not you’ll have to come up with another one, sorry.
It will tell you if that option is still available for free.
Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.
Now you’re set up! You can import your tumblr!
The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.
Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for “other importers” at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.
Then you’ll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. You’ll be redirected there automatically.
You’ll have to allow WordPress permissions on your blog.
Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.
Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and you’re done!
ALSO!!
I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I don’t know WP’s policy on NSFW.
This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they aren’t wanted, so I don’t personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access.
To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick.
tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps.Â
I’m going to tag the hell out of this, in no particular order. PLEASE reblog this and spread the word so people know it’s an option. If you’re having trouble, PM me, and I’m happy to help.
There are a whole bunch more, but that’s a start. Please reblog the hell out of this, so people are aware of this one simple option.
For people asking how to backup thier blog
Since the algorithms are flagging tons of stuff that don’t break the new guidelines anyway (twitter is on fire right now with screenshots of wrongly flagged art), here’s an option to back up your blog.Â
“lol the only people mad about the tumblr announcement just want porn lol”
Yeah, no.
Tumblr blocked the tag “chronic pain” in this mess for no reason
They’re flagging commonly used tags by queer people, sex educators, and artists who make their fucking LIVING on tumblr
They’re gonna take down genuine sex workers because they didn’t curb
the problem with spamming porn bots YEARS ago when tumblr users REPORTED
OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND *OVER* that it was a problem
Tumblr
IGNORED the bots, IGNORED the problems, and honestly treated it like
NOTHING until their app was taken off a store due to it.
They’re
fucking over a shit-ton of REAL PEOPLE who rely on tumblr for community
and/or income because they ignored users’ complaints about shitty porn
bots for YEARS until it had financial consequences
I can no longer even talk about chronic pain without the post being blocked from searches
I have drawn one or two nude pieces on my art tumblr which is 99% safe
for work but now I’m worried the blog will be taken down entirely
because Tumblr won’t bother differentiating between spam and REAL PEOPLE
just trying to live their goddamn lives
And god forbid I want to
talk about bisexuality or sex or kink in just… MY LIFE. As a
normal-ass human being who just wants to TALK ABOUT HUMAN THINGS
No, their solution to nuke a problem they’ve ignored for years is to take us all down at once
So maybe don’t laugh about “oh no not my pornz” because 1. plenty of
that ~porn~ is made by actual humans making their living and 2. WAY MORE
than “just porn” is being targeted
This along with Facebook
continuously upholding white supremacy by letting nazi shit fly by while
they ban people for speaking out against their oppressors and it’s
basically like we’re running out of truly free places to just… BE
you know something dangerous?
breast cancer was a tag that was banned. for daring to use the word “breast” in it.Â
How many people do you think will not be able to crowd fund to pay for their treatments now? or not have access to helpful posts about checking yourself for cancer or about treatments for breast cancer?Â
and that’s just one of the many not nsfw tags that are being banned.Â
“Oh but we aren’t going to ban stuff relating to sexual health-”
you already did. what the hell is next? the depression support tags for daring to talk about mental health? are you going to ban users for talking about their mental illness? for sharing their abuse stories? are you going to ban pride stuff because some of it is related to sex, genitalia, and sexual attraction? this is legit fucked up and is the exact opposite of safe.Â
tumblr had an opportunity to make this place safe a long long time ago. they had a chance to listen. they have fucked up and made this place unsafe for most of its user base and is making it exactly like the world in which most people on this site are ostracized from. This isn’t about porn. this is about the fact that they are censoring important information and avenues for people to communicate because they are two lazy to actually deal with the problem correctly. dozens of other sites have functioning nsfw filters and have good regulations about adult content. tumblr has neither and once this is all over, we will still have porn bots and pedos most likely. its going to be the real, law abiding user base that’s going to get fucked over.Â
We at Piczel.tv are sad to see Tumblr’s stance against NSFW artists, and would like to offer up our services as an alternative to Tumblr’s arbitrary shadowbans, deletions, and general stupidity.
We’re happy to host adult artists who are looking for a new place to call home, and are planning a few key upgrades and features.Â
Effectively immediately though, our gallery upload size restriction has been removed, to be likely raised to 10MB in the near future for non-premium users.
As always, we support image sets, and don’t compress anything.
Firstly, for those that have been using tumblr as a portfolio, you’ll need a way to download all of your art, if you don’t have backups somewhere else. We are planning a tool for Piczel.tv that will import zip files full of images, including titles and descriptions if we are able.
Second, we’re planning the following upgrades to piczel in the coming weeks:
1. Bulk upload/import to your piczel.tv gallery 2. Gallery UI cleanup and improvements 3. Gallery performance improvements 4. Gallery comments with in line image and custom emote support 5. Site-wide PMs (in the vein of tumblr asks, but better) 6. Archive button for your piczel account
Don’t forget to follow us on twitter, we may be deleted on the 17th with everyone else. Until then, we’ll make posts here to keep everyone in the loop
Please consider reblogging this to help artists in need.
