To my fellow Fanfiction writers

I looked into the situation on the Spamdex Fanfiction websites just now and I’m literally crying tears of joy at this situation. As you know, a majority went on strike this week until the situation was calmed down. And I looked myself up on Google (bored lol) and I found two of the websites we were warned about. I have a ton of protective softwares on my computer and I clicked on one of the links. It said:” Check out these websites similar to buystock.” so I looked at another and it asked me if I wished to buy the domain.

With this news in hands, I can proudly and happily say that Google (and maybe fanfiction) answered our prayers. The websites are as dead as the dodo! We won the war and we can go back to posting our fanfictions next week!!!!!!!

PLEASE REBLOG TO SHARE WITH OUR FELLOW WRITERS THIS JOYUS NEWS!!!

FanFiction Thieves Update

quicknoisyninja:

Hello everyone, as I’m sure a lot of you are aware there are several sites who have mirrored Fanfiction.net and stolen every single story on the site. I understand that this must make a lot of you feel a little scared and apprehensive but let me give you guys some closure to put your minds at ease.

While I was spreading a word a really good friend of mine contacted me and told me that he already knew about these sites and that they’ve been mirroring Fanfiction since last year. What this means is that they’ve been doing this for a while but there hasn’t been one incident of Fanfiction being bothered by this.

In other words there is very little to no chance of this site hacking Fanfiction authors accounts and any personal information being stolen or monitored.

These sites were probably active even before my friend found out so it seems that all they are able to do is copy stories and what is written on author’s profile pages but they can’t do anything serious like hacking your accounts and taking your e-mail address. If they were able to do this then it would have happened, so all Fanfic writers please don’t feel afraid to continue writing and posting your stories like normal.

It is disgusting that people have stolen millions of people’s hard work but at least we know now that it’s not hurting anyone, hopefully fanfiction will address this issue but if they don’t I don’t think it means that we have to quit posting or be afraid to write. Even though they were stolen its not like it makes people enjoy your stories any less.

I hope this message reaches you all.

Calling all fanfic writers:

It recently came to my attention that a lot of third party spamming websites came into the limelight, stealing our fanfics right off of fanfiction.net (as in doing a livestream of the website and updates when fanfic updates). It got me scared and concerned over this not only for myself but my fellow writers.

I was planning to take a break next week anyway to catch up on stuff but with this situation coming to light, I want to ask all my fellow writers if they wish to take a break this week from writing fanfiction for our safety? It’s an optional decision and I feel it’s recommended considering the seriousness of it all. It gives us a chance to calm things down (I am planning to post on Valentine’s Day if things are resolved by then) but otherwise I’m refusing to post any new chapters this week because of the third party websites. (We should let the fan base know though)

Reblog if you wish to take a break this week to keep our stories safe!!!!!

neen-writes:

So I am getting notifications and can read the last 5 or so reviews for IL in the emails I get, but they aren’t showing up on the website?  Is FF.net glitching for anyone else?

YES!!!! Been like that for me the past week! I can’t read a single one of the comments on anything. I also brought it up and other fanfic writers agreed it’s happening

You know what kind of makes me sad?

Ok, sometimes I like to go through the search engine of fanfiction.net and look up some good Gajevy fanfics (mostly rated T-M) and my point is what makes me sad is that some of the ones that I love and want to know what happens next, are never finished.

Some that have an interesting storyline never truly get finished (I once saw a fanfic writer write a post that was probably the most anger fueled thing I’ve ever seen and she was stating all her fics were dead.)

my point is, there’s a lot of great fanfics out there that I would love to see continue on or get updated one day, and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there. So I want people to reblog this and hopefully fanfic writers who wrote stories and gave up on them will know that there are fans out there who still want to know what happens next!!!

Ok I need some help from fanfic writers

Ok, so I’m working on some chapters earlier for two future stories and what not and one of them is Ancient scrawlings. I’m planning ahead and I decided to show some draconic texts that you would ACTUALLY see in the video game skyrim. But my problem is that idk if fanfiction.net can take the text. (Gajeel is going to be unable to read it) and I really want the text to be the way it is in the game. Is there a way I can keep it like that on fanfiction?

umjustkatie:

ok, so this has recently sprung up regarding poor @missyplatina and her fics being threatened to be stolen. i noticed that as a general audience, most people don’t understand how stealing fics/guest reviews work, so im making this for informative purposes only.

guest reviews of ffnet are completely anonymous.

we can’t track their ip address or location, we don’t get a link to block them, they’re just there. the only defense we have is the ability to delete these reviews, but even then, the threat still looms.

from a computer, copy and pasting is impossible on ffnet, however, for people out there who post their stories on tumblr, that stuff can be copy and pasted easier than making a take n bake pizza.

it’s also possible for people to copy and paste stories off of ffnet through the mobile version, which does allow copy and paste. pretty much everything we post is up for grabs.

the problem is, if people do steal our fics, we have almost no means of finding out. usually people who steal stories arent dumb enough to keep them in the same fandom – one quick control find and they can switch every natsu to naruto and the author has virtually no way of finding where these possible replicas of their fics could have gone.

im saying this as a warning – i know id never want to wake up and find out that someone had stolen my stories and completely changed the characters, because god dammit i worked hard on that shit.

even if these threats are false and attention-seeking, it’s not exactly motivating to us when we’re exposed to exactly how easy it would be for someone to screw us over with the click of a mouse.

please, please, please, if you ever read something vaguely familiar, delve into it. always inform authors if you think theres a possibility their work has been stolen – it means the world to us.

don’t steal fics. it’s disgusting and lazy and it kinda makes me wanna scream.

thats my little rant. dont do drugs and dont send anon hate, kids.

This got me scared when I found out. God, why are people so cruel?
